July 2nd, 2009

Susan Latham, from Logan with a mornings catch of channel catfish on 7/1/09. The cats were caught on Sonny's sticky bait that I stock here at the Tackle Box.
Water Temp = 76 degrees - main lake is clear and the river arms are stained.
Yesterday was the first day in a week that I was able to get out and fish ---my boat was in the repair shop needing some attention. I fished for 4 hours on water that looked like glass (not good for fishing shallow Walleye) but did manage 2 Wallys and about 15 Whites and a couple of nice Smallies. All fish were caught trolling white Bombers in 7-12 feet of water.
Walleye ---still a good bite going on. Troll mesquite flats if there is a breeze and if no breeze I would fish the edges of the main channel with crawlers or minnows on the bottom in 15-25 feet of water.
Catfish ---Limits are being taken on Sonny's sticky bait fishing up the coves in 3-6 feet of water.
Crappie -- a few being caught around the marina at night with minnows.
White bass -- Many smaller ones being caught anywhere in the lake, but the larger ones are a hit or a miss. Watch for the boils --- they seem to boil more in the late afternoon --- in front of the dam can be very productive.
Small mouth bass -- can be caught any where in the lake on just about anything. Many 10-12 inch fish with an occasional 16 incher.
Large mouth bass--- Senkos or spinner baits continue to catch them. Not many large fish being caught, but you should be able to catch 14 inchers in the numerous coves in 2-6 feet of water.
Enjoy the holiday weekend --- Parade Saturday morning, fire works Saturday evening.
FISH-ON,
Rob & Maria
