Patrick and son James Ansel from Dumas, Texas with some nice Walleye caught on 7/19/09.
Water temp 78 degrees
The lake has come up about 6 inches this past week due to some badly needed rain. The main lake is clear with the river arms a bit stained. The fishing is holding it's own with some excellent action at any given time.
Walleye ---- Continues to be a good bite. They are moving around the lake from day to day, but once you find them they are hungry. I'm still trolling, but using a little deeper diver. Most fish I'm catching are 15-20 feet deep , but still over brush and submerged trees. I have heard of limits being taken on bottom bouncers rigged with crawlers in 20-25 feet of water near structure.
White bass --- Still catching some while trolling, but many are small. They seem to be scattered through out the lake.
Channel Catfish --- Many nice fish being caught in 6-15 feet of water. Use Sonny's sticky bait to hammer them. Fish up around Romero cove and have some fun.
Small mouth bass---- Are all over the lake. Spinners, crank baits and live bait all work well. They seem to bite anywhere and anytime.
Large mouth bass---- A great top water bite early near the cat tails in the numerous coves. Work spinner baits as the day goes on in a bit deeper water.
Crappie --- Still catching a few trolling, but I would use minnows up the Canadian arm in 10-15 feet of water near structure if I was targeting that species.
FISH-ON,
Rob & Maria
