June 23rd, 2009
Water temp = 72 degrees
The fishing has been pretty good to excellent and I bet it will remain that way for the next 3-4 weeks. The only problem I see coming up is the hot temperatures that they are predicting for the next week. It won't affect the fishing, but you will swelter like a fish in a frying pan come about 2 P.M. You will want to hit the water early and get your fish by mid-day.
Walleye---- continue to be on an excellent bite ---some days are limits and some days are not, but all days are producing fish. More limits are coming on the breezy days (10-15 MPH). The fish are also moving around, so you may have to try different spots to locate them. I'm still trolling crank baits in 7-12 feet of water over thick mesquite brush. Walleye are also being taken on minnows and crawlers in 15-25 feet of water near the edges of the main channel.
Crappie----a few being caught, but you will have to work for them. Minnows near brush in 6-10 feet of water up either river arm is your best bet.
White bass----It is a hit or miss on these guys. Many small ones being caught daily, but the large ones are moving around. When you find them, you can whack and stack em. Fishing off of the Marina at night with lights is producing the most consistent bite. Use minnows 1-2 feet off of the bottom in 30-40 feet of water underneath your light.
Catfish ---Fish are starting to move a little deeper (6-15 ft). Use stink baits, minnows or crawlers to entice them. Do not expect limits, but you should be able to catch supper.
Small mouth---- are being caught about anywhere. The larger ones are hitting a bit better in the late afternoon. Minnows and crawlers in 5-15 feet of water will catch them. Throwing Senkos whacky rigged and jigs tipped with Gulp minnows will also work good.
Large mouth---Fish the reeds early for a top bite and work a bit deeper as the day goes on. Chatter baits and spinner baits are doing well.

Rob

June 14th, 2009

Bubba Norris and wife Penny with our limit of 15 Walleye taken 6/13/09. We were trolling over thick mesquite brush in 10-15 feet of water.
Bill and Bonnie Bryant from Clovis with some nice Wallys taken 6/12/09 again trolling in the brush. This day there was not a breath of air blowing and I believe it affected the quantity of our fish taken.

Water Temp = 70 degrees

We finally had a weekend that was not blowing us around and the fishing was sizzling hot. Many, many people out this weekend and everybody (most) had a good time. I want to remind everybody that the speed limit from Logan to Ute lake is 45 MPH. This area is heavily patrolled on the weekends and it is not worth a ticket. I have to admit though, it gives us some entertainment because our shop is where many offenders pull off of the road and sometimes they get to perform the sobriety tests for the officers. More than once have we seen people hand-cuffed and given a ride the pokey. Back to the fishing report.

Walleye -- continues to be a fantastic fishery. Limits are usually the rule and can be taken in 4-5 hours. Troll Wally Divers and size 200 Reef Runners in water 7-18 feet deep over the brush. Bottom bouncing crawlers and minnows will also produce fish near the drop offs in 15-25 feet of water.

Bass fishing (Smallies and Large) -- Good fishing using Senkos rigged "Whacky" in 3-10 feet of water. Top water is also working early and late in the day. I have not seen anything bigger than 2 pounds lately, but I have seen many fish 14-16 inches long.

White Bass -- I have been catching a few, but have not really been stacking them up. More small ones being caught than the bigger ones.

Crappie -- A few being caught, but not in any consistent numbers. Not sure where they are.

Catfish -- Near limits being caught using stink baits near reeds in 4-6 feet of water. Go back into the numerous coves and soak some stink.

fishing pics

I took my stepson Ken and wife Maria out for 3 hours on 6-1-09 and caught supper.
Guy and Bonnie Mitchell from Logan with fish caught 6/2/09 in only 2 hours of fishing.
Cooper and Dalton from Texas with a nice stringer of Walleye caught on 6/3/09 ----4 hours of fishing.

GREAT FISHING

Water temp = 68 degrees

The main lake is clear and the river arms are lightly stained. I have been a fishing fool the last few days, and all I can say is that the Walleye are snapping. Yesterday my clients boated at least 20 Walleye --- only 8 keepers --- but it is great to see the 10 inchers in the lake. They look healthy and are hungry!!!!! We also boated many Whites and a few Smallies while we were out --- only 4 hours. We trolled 100% of the time using Frenzies, Reef Runners and Wally Divers in 8-15 feet of water covered with mesquite on the bottom and up to 5 feet from the surface.

Crappie -- They are starting to show up in the Canadian arm, but limits are still rare -- expect 8-10 fish in a day of fishing. Minnows are the main bait that I am selling for them. Fish in 6-10 feet of water near or in the brush. Many of the Crappie being caught are males and their bottom side of their tails are reddish in color ---telling me that the females will soon be coming in when the beds have been made.

Walleye ---What can I say ---the most consistent bite for any species right now and it is a good one!!! Trolling has worked excellent for me, but bottom bouncing crawlers and minnows near structure is also producing limits.

Catfish --- Stink baits in 4-6 feet of water is catching close to limits of Mr. Whiskers. My fishing buddie catches 2 pounders one day and then 4 pounders the next day. They seem to move around in age classes.

White bass -- Not really fishing for them, but catching allot of them while trolling. Use light colored crank baits.

Small mouth -- Continue to hit about anything anywhere. Many 10-12 inchers, but an occasional 16-18 incher can be caught.

Large mouth -- Quite a few 2 pounders being caught up the river arms and in the back of the numerous coves. Keep your presentations close to reeds and brush and retrieve them slow.

FISH-ON,

Rob
