June 14th, 2009

Bubba Norris and wife Penny with our limit of 15 Walleye taken 6/13/09. We were trolling over thick mesquite brush in 10-15 feet of water.
Bill and Bonnie Bryant from Clovis with some nice Wallys taken 6/12/09 again trolling in the brush. This day there was not a breath of air blowing and I believe it affected the quantity of our fish taken.

Water Temp = 70 degrees

We finally had a weekend that was not blowing us around and the fishing was sizzling hot. Many, many people out this weekend and everybody (most) had a good time. I want to remind everybody that the speed limit from Logan to Ute lake is 45 MPH. This area is heavily patrolled on the weekends and it is not worth a ticket. I have to admit though, it gives us some entertainment because our shop is where many offenders pull off of the road and sometimes they get to perform the sobriety tests for the officers. More than once have we seen people hand-cuffed and given a ride the pokey. Back to the fishing report.

Walleye -- continues to be a fantastic fishery. Limits are usually the rule and can be taken in 4-5 hours. Troll Wally Divers and size 200 Reef Runners in water 7-18 feet deep over the brush. Bottom bouncing crawlers and minnows will also produce fish near the drop offs in 15-25 feet of water.

Bass fishing (Smallies and Large) -- Good fishing using Senkos rigged "Whacky" in 3-10 feet of water. Top water is also working early and late in the day. I have not seen anything bigger than 2 pounds lately, but I have seen many fish 14-16 inches long.

White Bass -- I have been catching a few, but have not really been stacking them up. More small ones being caught than the bigger ones.

Crappie -- A few being caught, but not in any consistent numbers. Not sure where they are.

Catfish -- Near limits being caught using stink baits near reeds in 4-6 feet of water. Go back into the numerous coves and soak some stink.
FISH - ON
