"Eyes" caught on 5/26/10 by my son and myself.

Curtis and (?) from Texas with a nice stringer of Walleye taken on 5/22/10. We caught around 20 more Walleye in the 10-12 inch size.
Water Temp = 69 degrees, main lake lightly stained, river arms a bit more.
Its a holiday weekend coming up and guess what------the weather is looking great for the next 5-6 days. We are expecting a pretty good crowd around the lake, so come out and have some fun. The fish are snapping, water warming up along with fore casted light winds.
Walleye--Good/Excellent--Trolling Bombers, Reef Runners and Wally Divers in the main channel are catching suspended Walleye. Tossing crank baits near shore will also catch them. Work rocky points with minnows in 3-15 feet of water is yet another method to get-em. Many 10-12 inchers are being caught, so treat them very carefully when taking the hook out of them and get them back into the lake ASAP.
Channel cats---Good/Excellent--Expect 3-5 pounders using Sonny's Stickey bait up the Canadian past the Crappie wall. The local catfisherman are catching 10-15 per expedition. They also throw out sour wheat to help bring them in.
Large mouth bass--Good--Spinner baits followed by a wacky rigged worm will get them off of their beds and into the boat. Many 2-3 pounders being caught. Work the reeds in 2-5 feet of water.
Small mouth bass--Good--Work the rocky points for quantity and the 10 foot flats near the main channel for quality fish. Grubs and worms are working the best.
Crappie--Good--Minnows near brush up the canadian is producing. Limits are not yet common, but I have seen a few. I would not spend more than 10-15 minutes at a tree if you have not caught any. Moving around until you find them is important. You only need to move 50-100 yards to try another spot.
White bass--Fair--Starting to catch a few more every trip. There is not really any "hot spot". Trolling and minnow fishing seems to be the best bet. They are spread out ---no rhyme or reason when you get one.
Have a save weekend and we look forward to seeing you.

May 19, 2010

Richard and Sonya Schilling from Amarillo, Texas with Walleye and Crappie. The bigger "Eye" was 23 inches long.
Tom and Kathy Sackman from Lake of the Pines, Ca. with Walleye and a Crappie on a short mid-day trip.

Tony Perez from Colorado with a monster Walleye taken on a size 600 Reef Runner.

Mike Byrd from Colorado Springs, Co. with a nice 24 inch Walleye.

Water temp = 62 degrees, Main lake lightly stained, river arms moderately stained.
The fishing is starting to pick up for most species. The fish are not jumping into the boat, but expect quite a few to be boated. My last 2-3 guiding trips I have noticed a better morning bite occurring. Mid-day it starts to slow down, then it will pick up again late afternoon.
Walleye--Good/Excellent--Trolling crank baits for suspended Walleye in 30-40 feet of water has been producing. Minnows in 5-10 feet of water has also been working well. I have been catching fish anywhere from 6-40 feet of water.
Crappie--Fair/Good--Trolling has been producing some fish, but your best bet is minnows up the Canadian arm near the Crappie Wall. I have seen a few limits the last few days.
White bass--Poor--Not sure where they went, but they are not on a good bite. We are catching a few in the pursuit of the Walleye, but not in any numbers.
Channel cats--Good/Excellent--I have seen a couple of coolers full of cats the last 2 days. A nice 8 pounder along with several 3-5 pounders. Fish the Canadian arm past the Crappie Wall in 4-8 feet of water using Sonny's Stickey bait.
Large mouth--Good--The locals are catching quite a few 2-3 pounders and once in a while a 6-7 pounder. Use spinner baits, chatter baits or tubes to entice them. They are moving onto their beds. Fish near brush/structure in 2-5 feet of water.
Small mouth--Good/Excellent--Quite a few smaller fish being taken on about anything anywhere on the lake. The larger fish are in 10 foot of water in brush. Work the area with Whacky rigged plastics for best results.

May 10th, 2010

Danny Pawlik from Texas with our catch on 5/8/10. Every Wally was caught on a orange size 600 Reef Runner.
Water temp = 58-59 degrees, main lake lightly stained, river arms moderately stained. Last Thursday I went fishing --(45-50)-- MPH sustained winds. It was tough fishing with poor results. On Friday the winds let up to 25 mph along with a cold front that moved in overnight. We caught Walleye and White bass, but all fish were on the small side. However, the last 20 minutes of that trip we started to catch some nice fish. I felt a bit more comfortable going into Saturday's trip knowing that I found some fish. Saturday (20-25) MPH winds, proved to be a good day of fishing for us. We caught several short Walleye, but we managed 8 real nice (18-20 inch) Walleye all caught on the size 600 Orange Crush Reef Runner. We also caught 4 Crappie. All fish were caught in a 50 yard stretch on the Ute arm of the lake.
The last few days the fishing has picked up compared to 5-7 days ago.
Walleye -- Fair/Good -- Bottom bouncing crawlers around Horseshoe has been producing fish. Drifting minnows around the main points of the lake have also been producing fish in 6-15 feet of water. Trolling the Ute has produced fish for myself.
Crappie -- Poor/Fair -- We have been catching a few while trolling for Walleye. I have also seen a few caught by other fisherpeople, but they are still in 15-20 feet of water. Expect them to turn on in the next week or two.
Catfish -- Poor-- My catfishing buddies have been having a tough time catching more than one or two on any given day. The wind really affects how and where they fish for them. If the wind dies down, expect the Cats to start biting better.
Large mouth--Good--I have seen several 2-3 pounders caught. They are moving into the shallows.
Small mouth --Good--Whacky rigged plastics in 10 foot will catch them.
White bass --Poor/Fair--I have not seen to many caught. They are scattered around the lake. We have caught a few trolling, but not that many. I have heard that fishing minnows around the Ranch House will produce a few.
