Marilyn and Gail Wilson from Olton, Tx. with Walleye taken on 10/15/10. Marilyn caught the bigger Walleye that went 22 inches long and 3.75 pounds.
Lonnie Siebrandt from Hobbs, N.M. caught and released this 4.2 pound smallie on 10/16/10. The fish was 20.5 inches long.
Water temp = 64 degrees, main lake clear, river arms cloudy.
Over all the fishing pressure is light, but the fishing is starting to pick up a little bit. It is not on fire, but it should not be mush longer for the bite to really improve. Our low temps at night are around 45 and the highs are fore casted to be mid 70's. As the water temp lowers, the fishing will improve as a rule.
Walleye--fair--Expect about 1 fish per hour trolling in 20 feet of water over brush. This method continues to boat some fish. Minnows in 20-30 feet of water is also producing some fish. Slabbing has not yet been very productive for me.
White bass--fair--Trolling deep running lures in the main channel has been working for me. Expect 2 fish per hour . Slabbing in 30-40 feet of water has also been working, but you need to be on top of them for any luck.
Small mouth bass--Excellent--Throw orange colored cranks in 10 feet of water. Drifting minnows on the 10 foot flats will also nail them. Most fish are 10-12 inches long, but there is a bunch of them.
Large mouth bass--Poor--not many reports on them, but try frogs back in the coves.
Catfish--Good--Stink baits, chicken liver will catch them in 4-8 feet of water. Quite a few are being caught.
I will be in and out of the shop this weekend due to deer hunting opening up. With any luck I will be tagged out and back at the shop by 9:00a.m. Saturday.
FISH-ON,
Rob & Maria.
