Water Temp = 45 degrees main lake(clear) with the river arms(stained) warming into the low 50's.
My first guiding trip of the year had a rather slow start the first hour netting only one Walleye, but then we found the fish up the Canadian in a little warmer water. Trolling Berkley Frenzies "Pearl color" and size 600 Reef Runners in "wonder bread color" were the ticket to catching a batch of fish. We were in 20 feet of water trolling over brush.
Walleye---improving every day, but should explode in the near future. Fish 20-25 feet of water with minnows. They should be moving shallower any day.
Smallies and Large mouth--- are being caught throwing grubs and jerk baits near cover in 5-15 feet of water.
Crappie---just starting to catch a few. Minnows in 5-10 feet of water and trolling over brush will catch some. If we don't get any major cold fronts come in, limits should be the rule in the next few weeks.
Channel cats----Continue to hammer Sonny's sticky bait up either river arm in 5-8 feet of water. Expect 3-5 pounders on the stringer.
White bass ---staging up both river arms, I think the Canadian is better right now. Cast jerk baits near brush and the shore line or troll over brush with light colored lures.
I have a couple more guiding trips next week --I will update report again next Friday to give you the latest info ---
Until then,
FISH-ON
Rob & Maria
