Bob and son from Texas with a couple of 4 pound Channel cats along with 3 Walleye taken 8/19/09.
Water temp = 75 degrees, main lake clear with the river arms stained.
The fishing at Ute Lake continues to be pretty good, but there are some days that are quite slow. I suggest hitting the water at sunrise for the most consistent bite.
Walleye---the fish are starting to hit slabs fished in 20-30 feet of water. Trolling will still catch a couple, but white colored slabs are producing more fish lately.
White bass ---- Many fish are being caught slabbing 25 feet of water early in the morning near Roger's park and up around Horseshoe Bend in 30 feet of water. Some days limits are the rule and other days a half dozen is a good day.
Catfish ---Many cats are being caught on Sonny's sticky bait in 6-10 feet of water. Near limits are the rule lately, but again some days 3-4 are a good catch.
Small & Large mouth bass -- Fish shallow early and deeper later is about all I can say. Senkos and tubes are producing the best.
The Eagles club is hosting a White bass tourney this Saturday. Sign up here or at the Eagles Friday night at 6:00 p.m. Cost is $30 per 2 man team. Hours are from 6a.m. - 3p.m..
FISH-ON,
Rob & Maria
